Seasonal Porch Decorating in Hollywood

Hollywood Lakes is one of the few places in South Florida where the houses were designed around the porch rather than the driveway. Joseph Young laid it out in the 1920s with open space, lake views, and wide front porches meant for sitting outside, and it has been a designated historic district long enough that the character survived the building boom around it.

What that means for us is three-dimensional work. A 1920s Spanish-Mediterranean or Art Deco front on a palm-lined street east of US-1 gives you depth, a real entry, and something to build against. Layered steps, a wreath scaled to an original door, arrangements at seating height. It is the same job we do on the historic streets of Delray, and it photographs the same way.

West of I-95 is a different city. Hollywood Hills and Emerald Hills are golf-course communities with some of the largest homes in south Broward, wide frontages, and the kind of professional landscaping a display has to hold its own against. That is Package 1 and custom territory.

Hollywood is closer to our base than Parkland or Coral Springs, so it sits in Zone 2 at $25 delivery and schedules easily. The one local factor worth planning around is salt: anything within a few blocks of the Broadwalk takes wind and salt air, so we anchor more heavily and pick material that survives it.
