Fall and Halloween Porch Decorating

Pumpkins, mums, and stalks on your steps by the weekend you asked for. We design it, install it, and haul it away in November.

Every October the same thing happens. You drive past a house on Nob Hill or Griffin Road with the pumpkins stacked three deep on the steps, the mums in exactly the right rust color, a wreath that looks like it cost more than it did, and you think: I want that. Then you price out forty pumpkins at the farm stand, realize you own a sedan, and remember that in three weeks somebody has to haul all of it to the curb.

That is the whole reason Portico Seasonal exists. We design the display, we source the material, we bring it to your house, we build it on your steps, and when the season is over we come back and take it away. You get the porch. You skip the truck, the storage, and the Sunday afternoon.

What we call it

A finished display is a Porchscape. Same word every season, so when you book again in December you already know what you are asking for.

What comes with every fall package

The package price is the real price. There is no separate labor charge and no materials markup added at the end.

  • The design. We pick the palette against your actual house, not a catalog photo. Pale stucco with a dark door takes different pumpkins than a Mediterranean front with barrel tile.
  • The material. Real pumpkins and gourds in the sizes and colors the design calls for, plus the mums, stalks, and dry goods that go with them.
  • Delivery and install. We show up, build it, sweep up after ourselves, and send you a photo when it is done. Most installs run under two hours and you do not have to be home.

Design is included in every package except the two smallest, where you can add it for $75 or just tell us the look you want and save the money.

The fall packages

Four sizes plus a neutral-tone option. The two in the middle are what most people book.

A large layered fall porch display with stacked pumpkins, cornstalks and mums

Package 1, the showstopper

$1,350

The full front of the house. Layered pumpkins across the steps, stalks on the columns, mums, hay, and a wreath sized to the door. This is the one people slow down for.

Design included.

A full front porch dressed with pumpkins, gourds and autumn mums

Package 2, full front porch

$800

A proper front-porch display without going to the top of the range. Steps and entry fully dressed, wreath, mums, and enough height that it reads from the road.

Design included.

A neutral toned fall display in white and cream pumpkins and pale gourds

Oh My Gourd, neutral tones

$750

Same scale as Package 2 in whites, creams, sage, and pale grey. Built for the houses where orange would fight the facade. Popular in Weston, Parkland, and Boca.

Design included.

A mid sized fall porch display with pumpkins on the front steps

Package 3, the most popular

$525

The one most people book. A well-built entry display with real depth on the steps, a wreath, and seasonal color, sized for a standard front door and stoop.

Add design for $75.

A compact fall doorway display with grouped pumpkins and a wreath

Package 4, the starter

$325

A tight, well-composed doorway. Pumpkins grouped at the entry, a wreath, and a couple of accents. The right call for a townhouse entry or a covered stoop with limited room.

Add design for $75.

An oversized custom fall display across a large home entry

Custom

from $3,500

Multi-area, oversized, or event-scale work. Circular drives, double staircases, a whole entry courtyard. We design it from scratch and quote it against the site.

Add-ons

Bolt any of these onto any package. Prices are per item.

  • Design service, $75. Package 3 and Package 4 only. It is already included above that.
  • Hay bale, $40 each. The single fastest way to add height and structure to a flat entry.
  • Mums, $50. Adds the color that pumpkins alone cannot.
  • Cornstalks, $45. Best on columns and porch posts, and they read from the street.
  • Wildlife deterrent, $95. Worth reading the honest note below before you skip this one.
  • Backyard or second area setup, $150. For the pool deck, the side entry, or a party.

Pickup and removal

A fall porch display being packed up and removed after the season
Removal is a product we sell, not a favor we forget. Most clients add it.

This is a real product, not an afterthought, and most clients add it. We come back after the season, break the display down, load it, and haul it away. Nothing goes to your curb and nothing goes in your garage.

  • Package 1 and Package 2: $150
  • Package 3: $100
  • Package 4: $75

If you skip it, you own the teardown. That is a genuinely unpleasant November afternoon with a lot of soft pumpkins, so we would rather you added it now.

The Thanksgiving refresh

Halloween decor and Thanksgiving decor are not the same thing, but they are close enough that you do not need a second full install. About a week after Halloween we come back, pull the Halloween-leaning pieces and anything that has gone soft, and rework what is left into a warmer, quieter harvest display that carries you to the end of November.

It is priced against what your porch actually needs, because a Package 4 doorway needs a different refresh than a Package 1 front. If you are already a fall client, ask when we install and we will quote it then. It is by far the cheapest way to get a second season out of one booking.

The honest part about pumpkins in South Florida

Read this before you book

We cannot make a pumpkin last, and we will not pretend otherwise. Real pumpkins are produce. In October heat and humidity, sitting on a warm stone step, some of them will soften, split, or mold well before Halloween. That is the material, not the workmanship.

What we can do is stack the odds. We choose thick-skinned varieties over thin ones, we keep pumpkins off direct wet surfaces, we favor covered entries where the design allows, and we build so that pulling one bad pumpkin does not collapse the arrangement. On a shaded, covered porch a display often holds the whole season. On a west-facing set of unshaded steps in a wet October, it will not.

Wildlife is the other thing nobody warns you about. Squirrels, raccoons, iguanas, and possums all treat a pumpkin display as a buffet, and in the neighborhoods backing onto canals and preserve land it is closer to a certainty than a risk. The $95 deterrent add-on is the cheapest insurance we sell.

If something fails early, tell us. We are not going to argue with you about a pumpkin. We would much rather swap it and keep you as a Christmas client.

When to book

Installs run from late September through the weekend before Halloween, and the good weekend dates go first. If you want your porch up for a party, tell us the date when you request and we will build the schedule around it rather than the other way round.

Fall is also where most of our December calendar comes from. If you book a fall Porchscape we will ask, once, whether you want us to hold a Christmas date before that book fills up. No pressure and no auto-charge, but the people who wait until December usually do not get their first choice.

What delivery costs, and why

We work out of central Broward, so the further we drive the more the job costs us in fuel, trailer time, and the installs we cannot fit in that day. Instead of quietly padding the package price or turning down the far-out homes, we charge the drive as its own line so you can see it.

  • Zone 1, no fee. Plantation, Davie, Cooper City, and west Miramar. We are already there.
  • Zone 2, $25. Weston, Southwest Ranches, Coral Springs, Parkland, and Sunrise.
  • Zone 3, $50. Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Wellington, and Loxahatchee.
  • Zone 4, $100 and a package minimum. Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, and the Palm Beach coast. These are scheduled on route days rather than on demand, and we do not run the small doorway package up there, because the drive eats the whole job.

The quote tool on the home page adds your zone automatically, so the number you see there is the number you pay.

Ready to price it out

The quote tool on the home page gives you an itemized number in about thirty seconds, including your delivery zone. When it looks right, hit reserve and it carries your whole selection into the booking form.

Common questions

Fall and Halloween Porch Decorating FAQ

How much does fall porch decorating cost?

Packages run from $325 for a doorway to $1,350 for a full front-of-house display, with a neutral-tone option at $750 and custom work from $3,500. Design is included in every package except the two smallest, where it is $75. Delivery is charged by zone, from $0 in central Broward to $100 on the Palm Beach coast.

Will the pumpkins survive until Halloween?

Some will and some will not, and we will not promise otherwise. Real pumpkins are produce, and South Florida heat, humidity, and wildlife are hard on them. We use thick-skinned varieties, keep them off wet surfaces, and build so one bad pumpkin does not wreck the arrangement. On a shaded covered porch a display usually holds the season. On unshaded steps in a wet October it may not. If something fails early, tell us and we will sort it out.

Do I need the wildlife deterrent?

If your house backs onto a canal, a lake, or preserve land, yes. Squirrels, raccoons, iguanas, and possums all treat a pumpkin display as food, and in those neighborhoods it is close to a certainty. At $95 it is the cheapest insurance on the list.

Do you take the display down afterwards?

Yes, and most clients add it. Pickup and removal is $150 for Package 1 and 2, $100 for Package 3, and $75 for Package 4. We come back after the season, break it down, load it, and take it away. If you skip it, the teardown is yours.

What is the Thanksgiving refresh?

About a week after Halloween we return, pull the Halloween-leaning and softening pieces, and rework what is left into a warmer harvest display that carries through November. It is priced against what your porch needs and it is the cheapest way to get a second season out of one booking.

How late can I book?

We install from late September through the weekend before Halloween, but the good weekend dates go early. If you have a party date, tell us when you request and we will build the schedule around it.

Do I have to be home for the install?

No. Most fall installs run under two hours and we do not need access to the inside of the house. We send you a photo when it is finished.

Book the porch you keep meaning to do.

Price it in thirty seconds, send the request, and we will confirm your install date. Nothing is charged until the date is yours.
