Newnan calls itself the City of Homes, and it earns it. The antebellum and Victorian houses along Greenville Street, College Street, and the Cole-Temple district were built with deep wraparound porches, tall columns, and real front steps, back when the front of the house was where you actually sat. That is exactly the architecture seasonal decorating was made for, and most of it survived because Newnan was spared the worst of the war and later protected its historic core.
