Southwest Ranches has a minimum lot size of one to two and a half acres and it shows in every direction. Sunshine Ranches has residents who get around by horseback and a twenty-acre equestrian park with ten acres of horse and nature trails. Landmark Ranch Estates is the only gated community in the whole town.

Decorating out here is a different job from decorating in Cooper City. Homes sit far back behind long private drives, there is no streetlight glow to fill in the gaps, and the sightline from the road is thirty or forty yards rather than twenty feet. A Package 4 doorway on a Southwest Ranches estate is invisible. What works is mass and repetition: pumpkins in real quantity across a wide entry, cornstalks on every column, hay bales for structure, and at Christmas, lit trees and lanterns that actually carry down the drive in the dark. This is our highest-percentage custom market for a reason.

The other local reality is wildlife. Preserve land, canals, and horse property mean raccoons, possums, and iguanas are not a maybe. The $95 deterrent add-on is close to mandatory on a fall display here, and we will say so when you book rather than after something eats it. Southwest Ranches is Zone 2, a $25 delivery line.

Almost every Southwest Ranches property has more than one thing worth decorating. A gate at the road, the house itself, and frequently a barn, a guest structure, or a covered entertaining area out back. The second-area add-on gets booked here more than anywhere except Wellington. The other thing to plan for is power: on a long lot the nearest usable exterior outlet to your gate may be a hundred feet away, so if you want anything lit down the drive, mention it when you book and we will work out what is actually possible before we promise it.
