Seasonal Decorating in Brooklyn Heights

Brooklyn Heights was the city's first designated historic district, and it shows in the houses. The landmarked streets between the Promenade and Court Street hold Federal, Greek Revival, and Italianate townhouses with some of the oldest and finest front entries in New York: fanlight doors, iron railings, and stoops that were built to be the front of a proper house.

That architecture rewards a careful, correctly scaled display. On a Federal or Greek Revival entry we work to the period, garland on the railings and door surround, a wreath proportioned to a handsome fanlight door, a restrained and layered fall arrangement, lit accents at Christmas that complement the house rather than fight it. The bar for taste is high here and the results are worth it.

Because the district is landmarked, we keep everything to the entry and its stoop and use nothing that could mark or damage historic material. We design against your actual house, source and install everything, and return at the end of the season to take it down if you add removal.
