Seasonal Porch Decorating in Coral Gables

The best architecture we get to work with anywhere. Zone 3, $50 delivery.

If we could choose one city to decorate for the rest of our lives, it would probably be Coral Gables. George Merrick planned it in the 1920s after Venice and Granada, and the discipline held: Mediterranean Revival throughout, wide avenues named for Spanish and Italian cities, carved limestone street signs, fountains, and a banyan canopy that makes the whole place feel older than it is.

Mediterranean Revival is the single best surface in seasonal decorating. Arched openings take garland along the curve without fighting it. Loggias give a wreath a frame. Deep shaded entries give real pumpkins the protection they need to survive October, which is why Gables displays tend to outlast the ones we build on exposed modern fronts. We frequently talk clients here down a package size, because the architecture is already doing most of the work and over-decorating a Merrick house is the one way to make it look worse.

The Board of Architects reviews permanent exterior changes. Seasonal decor is temporary and does not go through that process, but the standard it exists to protect is exactly the standard we design to. The Biltmore end of the city and the estate streets around the golf course are Package 1 and custom work; the smaller Gables bungalows near Miracle Mile suit a well-built Package 3.

Zone 3, $50 delivery, normal scheduling.
