Seasonal Porch Decorating in Miami Beach

Miami Beach is the most stylistically specific place we work, and the design has to answer the architecture or it looks like a costume. An Art Deco facade with horizontal banding and a streamlined entry does not want the layered rustic look that suits a Mediterranean front in Boca. It wants restraint, symmetry, and a much tighter palette.

Most of our work here is on the single-family islands rather than the Deco district itself. Sunset Islands, the Venetian Islands, La Gorce, and North Bay Road are conventional detached homes with driveways, gates, and frontage, and they take a full display the way any estate street does. The mid-century MiMo houses in the north are the most fun to design for, because a clean-lined sixties front makes a monochrome evergreen or a white-and-brass Christmas program look deliberate rather than sparse.

Two local constraints. Anything in a designated historic district is subject to preservation review for permanent alterations, which seasonal decor is not, but it tells you the standard. And salt air here is relentless, so we anchor heavily and choose weather-tolerant material rather than whatever photographed well on a mainland porch.
