The Village: mature canopy, real front yards, and an architectural code that keeps it that way.
Miami Shores calls itself the Village and means it. It is one of the oldest planned suburbs in Miami-Dade, laid out with deep front yards and street trees that have had eighty years to fill in, and it holds its character through an architectural code most residents actively like.
That canopy is a practical advantage in October. Shade is the single biggest factor in how long real pumpkins survive a South Florida fall, and the Shores has more of it than almost anywhere we work. Displays here routinely outlast the ones we build on exposed newer stoops further west.
The housing is a genuine mix, Mediterranean Revival alongside solid mid-century, most of it on lots with room to work. Deep front yards change the design: the display has to read from the sidewalk and the street, not just from three feet away, so we build with more mass and set the composition further forward than we would on a tight entry.
The Village reviews permanent exterior changes, not temporary seasonal decor, so a Christmas porch does not go through any approval. The standard those rules protect is still the standard the street holds itself to, which is exactly how we design here. Zone 2, $25 delivery.
