Seasonal Porch Decorating in West Palm Beach

El Cid, Flamingo Park, SoSo and Old Northwood. Historic districts with real depth.

West Palm Beach has more protected historic housing than anywhere else we serve, and it is the reason the city is such a good market for this work. El Cid alone holds hundreds of historic buildings, largely Mediterranean Revival and Mission-style estates from the 1920s, on streets between Flagler Drive and Dixie.

Flamingo Park just south of downtown is the eclectic counterpart, mixing Mediterranean Revival with Craftsman bungalows and Art Deco across several hundred historic buildings. Old Northwood to the north is another few hundred. Between them there is more arched, colonnaded, deep-porched architecture per block than in most of the county combined, and every one of those features is something a display can be built into rather than stuck onto.

SoSo, south of Southern, is the forties and fifties neighbourhood, closer to the water and lighter architecturally, where a cleaner and more restrained program suits better than heavy layering.

Historic district rules govern permanent alterations, not temporary seasonal decor, so a Christmas porch does not go through review. The standard those rules protect is still the standard these streets hold themselves to. Zone 3, $50 delivery.
